About Our School

The WISER Girls Secondary School has a 10 acre campus near Lake Victoria. Our school currently enrolls 240 girls and we have the capacity to expand to 320.

Prior to WISER only 40 girls were enrolled in secondary school in the entire school district. Three quarters of our students come from the Muhuru Bay community and the remainder from across Kenya.

We have partnerships with other NGOs to take in high potential girls from impoverished areas in the Maasai area and in northern Kenya. We also enroll girls from the Okiek tribe, a protected indigenous community in Kenya. Our new dormitories contain prayer rooms to support our Muslim students.

Our diverse study body increases cross-cultural learning within Kenya and prepares our students for entering universities across the country.

What’s Happening on Campus

The WISER school has three academic terms, with Term 1 starting in January. Term 2 began with fun 2 month projects with Duke students , but now the girls are focusing on their end of term exams. After a short break they will return for Term 3, when our Form 4 (senior) girls will prepare for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. The KCSE determines what universities our alumni will attend and what courses of study they will pursue so Term 3 is very busy!

The New Dorcas Oyugi Library!

Madame Dorcas Oyugi has been our Principal since the school opened in 2010. In honor of her upcoming retirement, we are delighted to unveil our new library, named in her honor.
