WISER International’s mission is to work with girls to transcend poverty, HIV/AIDS, and gender-based violence by creating environments that produce exceptional young women who drive change in their communities.
It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in North Carolina and is the major fundraising and strategic partner for the Kenya-based WISER NGO.
Sherryl is co-founder and chair of the WISER NGO board in Kenya and founder and President of WISER Intl. She is a professor of biology and global health at Duke University. She has won the David and Janet von Brooks Award for exemplary teaching in the sciences, the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award for humanitarianism from Duke University, and the William E. Bennett Award for Extraordinary Contributions to Citizen Science.
Carrie Arndt, M.S., PMP
Carrie has led product innovation, research and development, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing operations
on twenty products during her 25+-year career in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and North America. She holds a Master of Science in medical microbiology from the University of Minnesota, a Bachelor of Science in natural science from University of Wisconsin-Madison, in addition to PMP and Green Belt certifications.
Joseph is currently the President and COO of Familywize Community Service Partnership, an organization that dedicated to helping improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities by making prescription medication more affordable and more accessible for all. Prior to his involvement with Familywize, he spent more than 28 years with several Fortune 500 organizations including over 20 years with Express Scripts.
Sara Benjamin Neelon PhD, MPH, RD
Sara is a child nutritionist and Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at Johns Hopkins University. She is also an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Diet and Activity Research at the University of Cambridge. Sara’s research focuses on policy and environmental approaches to obesity prevention and health promotion in vulnerable populations globally.
Michael Schreiber, MBA
Michael is an experienced leader of mission driven organizations, with a particular interest and capacity in organizational growth and strategic implementation. Over his 20 year career, Michael has served in leadership roles for Deloitte Consulting, United Way Worldwide, GBCHealth, Concern Worldwide, and RFKennedy Human Rights. Michael has a BA in Economics & International Relations from Stanford University and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business
Steve is a business development executive with extensive experience in the start-up, growth, and leadership of new initiatives and innovation in the Health and Mobile/Digital sectors. He is currently consulting with a high profile health organization to identify, incubate, and scale transformational solutions to national and global health issues. Social Impact Experience includes – Corporate Advisory Board of EveryoneOn, Co-Founder of Roberto’s Kids, and Board of Directors of SEEDS Together.
Frances is the People Director for the Walton Family Foundation. With more than 20 years’ experience as a human resources executive, Frances has held key senior leadership roles with The One Campaign, the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Human Rights First. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, Frances also possesses an advanced degree in Human Resources Management.
Hardy Vieux, MPP, J.D.
Hardy is the Legal Director at Human Rights First and a Policymaker in Residence at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. He specializes in refugee and asylum-related matters in three major US cities. Hardy is a member of the board of visitors for Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy and served on Duke University’s Board of Trustees from 1999-2013. He is also part of the board for the National Institute of Military Justice.
